Eleni Karaindou出生在希腊的小山村Teichio，那里地处希腊中部，四周环山。她在雅典长大，并在Hellenikon Odion学习钢琴演奏和理论。从1969年到1974年她在巴黎学习人种音乐学，回到希腊后在ORA文化中心创立了传统乐器研究所。

Brief introduction

Eleni Karaindou was born in the Greek mountain village of Teichio, a small village surrounded by the mountains in the central Greece, and raised in Athens where she studied piano and theory at the Hellenikon Odion. From 1969-74 she studied ethnomusicology in Paris and, on returning to Greece, founded the Laboratory for Traditional Instruments at the ORA Cultural Centre.

The soundtracks of Angelopoulos movies gave Eleni Karaindrou a fame in whole Europe, but the Greek composer worked also with other important European directors such as Chris Marker, Jules Dassin, Margharethe Von Trotta. "I like marrying sounds I know--Greek traditional folk to jazz or classical," she says. "I feel like a painter, taking dabs of color from a wide variety of sources and making something out of it."
