The Believer is loosely based on the story of Daniel Burros, a KKK leader who committed suicide after a New York Times reporter exposed his Jewish heritage.
Danny Balint is a young Jewish man. He was a top student in Hebrew school before he began to ask too many questions about the deeper implications of the teachings in the Torah and the Old Testament, leading to his expulsion. Danny has become magnetised by a force which stands in direct contradiction to his heritage: neo-fascism. This is a film about the inner violence and struggle in the mind of a man who still cannot escape his true Jewish identity.
