This is a movie loosely connected set of vignettes. It is filled with indelibly haunting black comic imagery. Everyone seems to have subtly gone crazy at the same moment, the film offers a spectrum of disjointed freak show acts.

A clerk is made redundant in a degrading manner, an immigrant is violently attacked in the street, a magician makes a disastrous mess of his act. In the midst of this mayhem, one person stands out - it is Karl and his face is covered in ashes. He has just put a match to his furniture store to get insurance money.

Finally the protagonists discover how absurd the world is, and just how difficult it is to be human.

这是一部由一系列小品组成的情节松散的电影，充满了黑色幽默。影片中每个人都变得失去理智，一些无条理的怪异行为发生了。
