A screen adaptation of the great Shakespearean classic. The Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich composed the score.
King Lear is old and tired. When his youngest and most honest daughter Cordelia refuses to flatter him, he banishes her then turns for support to her remaining two elder sisters. But the evil sisters betrayed their father. They plot to take all his power from him. In the meantime, Lear's loyal courtier always accompanies him. The old man finally learns the truth and be anxious to reunite with Cordelia.
