This film is Janusz Morgenstern's debut which can be described as the first authentic post-war Polish youth film.

Handsome Jacek is the head of a troupe of thespians. One day, he runs into sophisticated Marguerite, the daughter of a French diplomat. He falls for her but the girl is eccentric and whimsical. Jacek seemingly gets another play for the troupe to perform.

Narrating in a loose style, the film is akin to the French New Wave.
