Difficult liberal ethic

This movie made by Kieslowski is a ten-part series produced for Polish television in 1988 and 1989. Each story takes place among the inhabitants of a Warsaw apartment complex and focuses on a moral and ethical quandary by the Ten Commandments, which have been unquestionably right. However, because of the conflict between them and the modern life, we even break them every day.

A university professor trusts in the infallibility of the computer. He and his young son consult the computer to calculate the safety of the thickness of the ice on a nearby pond. But does the computer really know it?

Elzbieta is visiting the University of Warsaw. An ethics professor is forced to admit that she had refused to hide her from the Nazis. And she explains the reason for this was cowardice, her long-standing sense of guilt is cleared. These two women gain a deeper understanding of how the war scarred both of them.
