Gossip columnist Marcello Rubini yearns to write seriously and aspires to become a successful novelist. But he has to take part in a lot of sociality parties to collect celebrities' secrets. He attaches himself to a bored socialite , whose search for thrills brings them in contact with a bisexual prostitute . The next day, his mistress attempts suicide. Throughout his adventures, Marcello Rubini concludes that, while his lifestyle is shallow and ultimately pointless, there's nothing he can do to change it and so he might as well enjoy it. His good friend's perfect family gives him a good example. He is inspirited to realize the life deeply and devotes to writing work again. But one day this friend suicides after kills his own two children. Marcello Rubini puzzles. He wanders on the beach. Some fisherfolks draw a strange fish. He feels as if he himself is much like the ugly monster. |
