Bernardo Bertolucci's "The Dreamers" is a return to the style of films made in the late sixties and early seventies.
American student Matthew is studying in Paris during the politically turbulent late '60s. Isabelle and her brother Theo are at home by themselves in Paris for a month with their parents away on holiday. They invite Matthew who met them at the Cinémathèque, to come and stay with them. While the revolution rages on outside, the three young people stay in the comfortable flat playing decadent sexual games.
The film concerns itself with the subculture of the film buff. Everything rotates around film.
