Michelangelo Antonioni's only American film,  an atonal fantasia on the late 1960s.

A college student Mark is caught up in the changing mood of the era and is suspected of shooting a police officer. He steals an airplane and flies over a desert where he meets up with a secretary Daria who is driving on the road. As opposed to the freedom of the desert, life in the city is a mixture of huge billboards and police brutality for Mark. They pretty much spend the rest of the movie falling in love and exploring their emotions at Zabriskie Point.
