Set in the 1930s. Having witnessed all his students died for conflicts among warlords and handicapped during a battle, art teacher Twilight leaves his troop and settles down at a small utopia-like village and becomes a kite maker. Later he teaches himself to read palms.

Thanks to Twinkle, the village teacher, Twilight married Rainbow, a mute yet musically gifted girl. Rainbow always indulges in fantasies about falling in love with a young knight in red. A young music student Sunshine comes and Rainbow realizes he was the man she had been dreaming of. Suddenly, Japan's war machine rolls into the quite village and everything beautiful is doomed.

Surrealistic paintings juxtaposed with rural countryside and a soundtrack that alternates between classical and heavy metal, the film offers  a bright new style of the director.

故事发生在1930年代。在军阀混战中，美术教师旭亲眼看到他的学生们战死沙场，自己也在一次战斗中落下残疾，于是他离开军队到一个乌托邦般的小村子里安顿下来，以制作风筝为生。后来他还自己学会了看手相。

在乡村教师晟的帮助下，旭和虹结了婚。虹是一个极富音乐天分的哑姑娘，她终日幻想着能和一个红衣骑士共浴爱河。学习音乐的年轻学生阳来到了村里，虹意识到他就是那个梦中情人。日本军队的铁蹄突然踏入宁静的山村，所有美丽的事物都灰飞烟灭了。

在电影中，超现实主义的绘画和田园风光并置，配乐也是从古典到重金属都有，展示了导演鲜明的新风格。
