The introvert carpenter Olivier has several apprentices at work in his workshop. He has lost his small son in a tragic manner.
16-year-old boy Francis comes and applies. Olivier takes on the mysterious Francis as apprentice. Speaking with his ex-wife Magali he knows that Francis was the young street tough who murdered their child years ago. Painfully slow the story unfolds itself.
The camera is so close on Olivier that the most subtle gesture, each nervous twitch and the slightest sign of emotion is shown larger than life.
